Who we are

Are you thinking of getting an Electric Vehicle (EV) or know someone who is? Maybe you just got one today and realized when you got home that they didn’t give you a cord to charge it with and you don’t know what to do. Well, I have been there, literally and figuratively, and I am here to help because I love my EV car and I hope other people do too. I love it and The EV Life so much I wanted to create this site as a passion project. I am also a nerd in need of an outlet for my musings and hours of study. ‘For Science!’ is an answer to my kids at times.

EV Skeptic provides information we have found interesting and helpful to anyone and everyone in the EV community- including past, present and future EV drivers. We believe a majority of our friends, family and neighbors will voluntarily and happily drive EVs in the years to come, without threat or coercion because it makes sense in so many applications. This site is a conglomeration of data, discussions and on-going’s from a group of friends who all own EVs and each went through the process from EV curious to EV novice to EV evangelist (but with exceptions).

I am Dustin Gehrett, the primary contributor and author of this site. There is blog post with more detail about my story but in summary I went from an EV hater to, well, obviously what you see on here, an EV supporter for the right use cases. A key point is that I don’t believe the green agenda or environmental cause for EVs. But, when my daily driver ICE car ended up totaled in Oct. of 2023, I planned to buy another ICE commuter car. A friend advised me to reconsider an EV and I made a spreadsheet to prove why an EV was mathematically a bad idea.

Well, that backfired and I ended up buying an EV and here I am today.
